Khloe Kardashian braces treatment

Khloe Kardashian is part of the growing number of celebrities who are getting aligners—she doesn’t want people to refer to it as braces because, technically, they’re not. Glamour.com reports:

Is it weird to get braces for the first time as an adult? I ask because it seems like people are fussing over Khloe Kardashian’s decision to get braces as a 28-year-old. These days, you don’t have to wear the metal braces that I had to endure in elementary school because there’s Invisalign, so I just don’t understand why this is a big deal. According to the American Association of Orthodontists, Khloe is part of a growing number of people over the age of 18 who are straightening their teeth. From 1994 to 2010, the percentage of adults getting braces rose 58 percent, from 680,000 to 1.1 million a year.

For many, braces are an awkward memory from middle school or high school. Although orthodontic R&D strives to make current teeth straightening methods as less painful as possible, adults who opt to get braces might be surprised to encounter one inconvenience—eating can be like pulling teeth. The discomfort is usually the worst during the first week (or every after adjustment), as the teeth and mouth adapt to the braces.

Fortunately, a trusted Denver dentist, such as those from the Cody Dental Group, may recommend several things you can do to make eating more comfortable during this time. For example, you can blend your fruits into smoothies, and cook vegetables first to soften them. Since peanuts and almonds will be painful to chew, you can get by with peanut and almond butter for now.

While you can’t sink your teeth into steaks or ribs yet, you can get your protein fix from cold cuts or even seafood. Don’t forget to eat slowly and carefully while your teeth still feel tender. You can have soups to relieve pain as their heat promotes blood circulation.

Gargling or rinsing with salt water is also helpful in preventing painful mouth infections from developing. Lastly, if the pain becomes too much to handle, you can ask your regular dentist in Denver, CO to prescribe pain relievers.

The benefits of getting braces are definitely worth the pain. You’ll not only get a prettier smile but healthier teeth and gums as well. Your dentist will happily help you adjust to your new braces.
